Writing Assignment #1 (Get Inspired By This Painting)

Writing Assignment from a Friend

Today, I am following my friend's advice; she assigns: "Look at this painting for a long time. Then write a poem." I will post my work — or at least piece(s) of it — soon.

The idea behind it, as I look at the painting, will perhaps have something to do with Hoffman's short story, "The Sandman." This gothic tale is a must read, especially for all the Freudians out there. Follow this link if you want to read it (and get inspired!): The Sandman by Hoffmann (from GasLight)

Side note: my friend is a member of Purdue University's Writers' Bloc, a community dedicated to establish new poets. The current advisor for the Bloc is the famous poet Donald Platt (check out his book, My Father Says Grace). For such interesting assignments and literary reads, check out Writers' Bloc Forum on FaceBook (here is a link: Writers' Bloc Forum).
