How to Insult Your Indian (or South Asian, for that matter) Friends


This is an interesting article on how to insult your Indian (or South Asian) friends — say, "please" or "thank you." The article suggests voicing such "insulting" expressions indicate formality in a relationship that should be informal, friendly. Gratitude and loyalty from friends is expected and shown, not voiced. Brought up in Nepal, I took this as a principe and not a custom, and thusly behaved in this manner, which my Western friends found quite odd, since I don't accept gratitude for any favor(s).
